About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator with deep experience in commercial drywall construction . In this critical preconstruction role, you'll prepare competitive and accurate bids for projects involving drywall, light-gauge metal framing, acoustical ceilings, and specialty wall systems. You'll work directly with project managers, general contractors, and suppliers to ensure profitable wins and smooth project transitions.

Key Responsibilities

Drywall-Focused Estimating

• Perform detailed take-offs and cost estimates for drywall systems , metal stud framing , acoustical ceilings , shaft wall , fire-rated assemblies , and other interior finish scopes.
• Analyze architectural and structural drawings to identify scope, material needs, and labor requirements specific to interior wall and ceiling systems.
• Generate detailed proposals, budgets, and bid packages for competitive and negotiated projects.
• Source and validate pricing from drywall suppliers, specialty manufacturers, and subcontractors.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as needed to evaluate site conditions and constructability.

Project Support & Handoff

• Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents during project handoff to ensure clarity and alignment with estimated scope.
• Support project buyout by identifying preferred vendors and tracking long-lead items.
• Maintain organized documentation of all bids, take-offs, and change orders for future reference and auditing.

Process Improvement & Analysis

• Track historical cost data for drywall and ceiling systems to improve estimating accuracy.
• Analyze project outcomes to refine future labor and material assumptions.
• Actively contribute to the improvement of internal estimating systems and templates.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience estimating drywall, metal framing, and ceiling scopes in commercial construction.
• Strong understanding of wall assemblies, UL systems, fire codes, and acoustic requirements.
• Proficiency with take-off and estimating software (e.g. On-Screen Takeoff (OST) , QuickBid , PlanSwift , or similar).
• Strong math, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with local material pricing and vendor relationships is a strong plus.
• Ability to manage multiple bids with competing deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with negotiated and hard-bid projects in sectors like healthcare, education, hospitality, or government.
• OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
• Construction-related degree or equivalent field experience
• Valid Florida driver’s license

Location Note:

Positions available in both Orlando (Apopka) and Tampa . Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to Central or Gulf Coast Florida. Local travel to job sites or bid walks is expected as needed.
